About Egypt

Egypt, a country that connects North Africa with the Middle East, has a history that dates back to the time of the pharaohs. Along the fertile valley of the Nile are ancient monuments such as the colossal pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, the temple of Karnak in Luxor, rich in hieroglyphs, and the tombs of the Valley of the Kings.

Most of its territory lies in North Africa and borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Palestine and Israel to the northeast, the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south and Libya to the west.

The capital, Cairo, houses Ottoman buildings such as the Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum which exhibits a collection of ancient objects. Famous tourist destinations are certainly the Sinai peninsula, with the city of Sharm ash-Shaykh overlooking the Red Sea and north Alexandria in Egypt.

To date the Egyptian economy continues to depend heavily on international aid with agriculture occupying a prominent role and employing more than 30% of the forceLocal work, while the trade balance is in deficit and among the most important trading partners there are the countries of the European Union, including Italy and the United States of America.
