About India

India is a vast nation of South Asia with a diverse territory, ranging from the peaks of the Himalayas to the coast of the Indian Ocean, and a history that goes back 5000 years.

With about 1 billion and 390 million inhabitants it is the second most populated country in the world after the People's Republic of China.

To the north, the monuments of the Mughal Empire include the Red Fort of Delhi and the imposing mosque of Jama Masjid, with the famous mausoleum of the Taj Mahal of Agra. In Varanasi pilgrims bathe in the Ganges, while Rishikesh is both a yoga center and a starting point for excursions to the Himalayas.

The country's economy is based on the tertiary sector that occupies over 50% of the national GDP with strong trade with Western countries, China, Russia, Japan and the United Arab Emirates, while the industrial sector occupies less than 30%.

Air traffic is very intense, thanks to the important international airports of Calcutta, Mumbai, Delhi, Trivandrum and Chennai, with tourist entries in the country that are constantly increasing.
