The Electronic Travel Authorization System (ESTA) is an automated system used to determine travellers' fitness to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP)and whether their entry into the country could entail risks for the bodies responsible for the protection of public order and security.

Citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program can travel without a visa requirement, although they will need to obtain permission before travelling to the United States.

The ESTA authorization is valid for 2 years, or until the expiry of the associated passport, whichever is the earlier. During this period you are allowed to enter the United States without having to submit additional ESTA approval requests for 90 days.
