Category F, M visas - Study

Category "F" and "M" visas are for those wishing to study in the United States. The "F" visa is for academic studies and the "M" visa is for non-academic or professional studies.

Before you can apply for an F or M visa, you must apply for a visa and be accepted by a school recognized by the SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program). It is recommended to visit the EducationUSA website to learn about study opportunities in the USA, and the Study in the States website to search for schools certified by the SEVP.

When the student is accepted by the American school they intend to attend, they will be enrolled in the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) and will be required to pay a fee, at least three days before the scheduled date for the consular interview.

With an F or M visa you will be allowed to enter the USA no later than 30 days before the start date of the study program.
